You can understand the main points of clear speech and text on familiar matters at work, school and leisure. You can deal with most situations while travelling, write simple connected text, and describe experiences, plans and opinions briefly.

How you get to this level

Through the placement test: if the tester places you at B1, you start here.

By completing A2 · Elementary: once that level is confirmed as completed, you become eligible for B1 groups. About level A2
Moving up is never automatic. You choose and enrol in your next group yourself.
After this level
When the roadmap of B1 is complete and the final assessment is done, administration confirms the level. You are then eligible for B2 · Upper Intermediate groups. About level B2
